Vitalik: Bitcoin Under 10% of My Portfolio

Ethereum Co-founder Vitalik Buterin has revealed his portfolio, where he stated “I’m under 10% in BTC, But then again I’m under 10% in anything that’s not ETH”. 

Through this post on X, he highlighted the minimal exposure to Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies amid the recent price surge in ETH. The post also became a hotbed for discussion, splitting the crypto community into two. 

The story began when the crypto analyst Udi Wertheimer advised that investors should be allocated preferably up to 70% or at least 10% of their total holdings in Bitcoin. In response, Buterin argued and shared a starkly different view, saying that BTC constitutes less than 10% of his portfolio and the same proportion of other non-ETH assets. 

His comments show his ‘Ethereum-first’ investment philosophy, which favors exposure to ETH while maintaining only minor stakes in other digital assets. This perspective has also reignited discussions within the crypto community, dividing the community into ers and critics.

Vitalik Believes in Ethereum’s Future

A deeper look into Buterin’s portfolio reveals ETH as the overwhelming majority of his holdings, valued at over $794 million. According to Arkham, Buterin’s portfolio includes WETH valued at $864,840 and AETHWETH at $9.47 million. He also holds smaller allocations in MOODENG, WHITE, and EBULL.

While Buterin maintains some exposure to various Ethereum-based tokens, his portfolio strongly reflects his belief in ETH’s long-term value and dominance.

The post comes when many crypto analysts are speculating a potential breakout into ETH, which could lift it to new heights. Market analyst, TedPillows states that ETH has entered a long-term expansion phase after a long period of accumulation and market manipulation, which signals a strong upward momentum.    

At the time of writing, the second-biggest cryptocurrency is trading at around $3,300 with a 1.88% hike in the last 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap.
